Collins died in the car crash early on Friday morning alongside his wife.
Collins’s three-month old baby daughter has been taken to hospital in critical condition, but Collins and his wife both died at the scene.
Collins played 48 tests for the All Blacks, including three as captain and had a long and successful career in Super Rugby playing for the Hurricanes.
As recently as January, Collins signed for French club Narbonne after having not played any rugby since his time in Japan two years ago.
