Aaron Cruden is ready to get back into Super Rugby this weekend against the Brumbies after a long off season.
Talk that Cruden would return for week two of Super Rugby has been about for some time and is slated to return to the squad this weekend.
Cruden fronted the media this morning with nothing but praise for youngster Damian McKenzie who wowed on his debut in Cruden’s regular position.
“He is certainly a brave wee fella and it was good to see him go out there and play his natural game”, Cruden said.
Many would feel that Cruden would be under pressure given the performance of McKenzie but Cruden says he would be under pressure in any event – not just because of the standout performance of his young teammate.
“I guess there is always pressure, you always want to perform well.”
Fellow All Black Liam Messam will return to action this weekend, and the big debut of Seta Taminavalu will also likely take place.
Many in the Chiefs camp this weekend have hailed the Brumbies as the side to most impress in last weekends opening round of Super Rugby, and to win on Friday night will require a good start and a far improved physical presence than what was shown against the same side last season.
The Chiefs squad for the Brumbies matchup is expected to be announced on Wednesday.
